Keyword(s): togaf 9 certification

There are over 77,000 TOGAF-certified Enterprise Architects in the world. Without certification, the competition is even steeper. If you want to ensure your credibility as an enterprise architect and open up your job opportunities, then you need a TOGAF 9 certification.

But you can't cross your fingers and hope everything goes well. If you want to earn your certification, you need to be ready for the exam. Luckily, you've come to the right place.

Once you've passed your Foundation exam, it's time to take the TOGAF 9 Certified exam. Learn some helpful tips for passing it right here!

1. TOGAF 9 Level 2 Training Course

The TOGAF Standard is the most popular Enterprise Architecture standard out there. That said, the TOGAF 9 book contains about 800 pages of specific content. That's why supplementing your own study hours with a training course can be helpful.

Finding a training course for assistance helps you know what to expect from the exam. The trainers can provide you with expert guidance and experience for the exam itself. It's also a great way to stay accountable and motivated to stay focused during preparation.

2. Dedicated Study Time

Remember those 800 pages we mentioned earlier? There's no way around it, you're going to need to dedicate at least three to five days reading and studying the pages of the TOGAF 9 book.

The certification exam wants to ensure you're familiar with the content. So your best bet is to spend as much time as you can to immerse yourself in TOGAF. You should complete as many practice exams for Part 1 and 2 as you possibly can.

TOGAF also provides a Part 1 and Part 2 study guide for the exam. Part 1 is around 200 pages and covers all the possible content on the Part 1 exam. It's a great place to start.

3. Test Your Knowledge

It's important to stick with the official study guides made from the Open Group when studying for the TOGAF 9 Certification. You may find other self-study guides available online but you should only need the information that was organized by the Open Group themselves.

In addition, be sure to use the practice questions to test your knowledge throughout your study time. This can help you immediately identify weaknesses in a specific topic so you can work on it a bit more.

4. Know How You're Graded

Before jumping into the exam, familiarize yourself with how it is graded.

Exam Part 1

Part 1 of the TOGAF Certification exam is multiple choice. Each of the 40 questions has four to five answers to choose from. You must score 22 correct answers to pass.

If you do not choose the right multiple-choice answer you will get a zero for that question. That means you can only get 18 questions wrong before you fail. However, there are no markdowns for getting an answer wrong so your best bet is to answer all of the questions.

To move on to Part 2, you must pass Part 1. Be sure you know all the TOGAF definitions and foundational content to pass Part 1.

Exam Part 2

Part 2 is also a multiple-choice test however there are eight questions that have four possible answers. Only one of the answers gives you a zero score. If you select the best answer you earn five points.

You only need to score 24 points out of 40 for Part 2. Even the second-best response scores you three points. So if you score three points for each of the eight questions you can pass the exam.

This part of the test shows your ability to reason through a TOGAF scenario. Your best strategy for Part 2 is to find the distracter of each question and eliminate it right away.

5. Know the Part 2 Design

Understanding the idea behind Part 2 of the exam can help you get the questions right. In Part 2 you are given a real-world scenario. You should first find the central focus of the scenario which is usually a Phase of the ADM. It could also be a security or interoperability scenario.

This helps you determine the best response based on the focus of the scenario. You have 12 minutes to answer each question in Part 2. This part of the test is also open-book. You can use the complete TOGAF book during the 90 minutes. It is in a PDF format so search on keywords to find the sections you need otherwise it could take too much time.

Plan to keep Section 31 close at hand. This section defines all the artefacts and it is guaranteed to help you find the right answer. Plan to use all of the time for the exam. You don't want to rush through without properly reading the scenario and each question thoroughly.

6. Stay Calm & Take Your Time

The TOGAF Certification exam is timed. You have about two minutes for each question in Part 1 and 12 minutes per question for Part 2. You can move backwards and forwards through all the questions in Part 1 and answer them in whatever order you like.

First, answer all the questions in Part 1 that you are confident of the answers. Then go back for the ones you are unsure of. In Part 2 you must find the best answer. So you may notice multiple correct answers but only one is the best.

Comparing the answers to each other can help you find the most appropriate one for the scenario. You should spend the majority of your effort studying Part 1 since you need to pass it to make it to Part 2.

Part 2 allows you to use your book and relies on deductive reasoning. Your chances of passing this section are high. This should help you manage your time wisely when spending long hours studying.

5 Qualities to Look for in an IT Training Course

5 Qualities to Look for in an IT Training Course

When it comes to IT training and other training courses, you want to be trained by the best. Here are qualities you should look for in a course.

Keyword(s): it training

The global IT industry was on pace to reach $5 trillion in 2019.

We live in an information age where technology is constantly advancing. We're surrounded by technology every day. In fact, most people couldn't live without it!

Tech professionals are in demand and jobs are widely available. It's no surprise that many people are looking to broaden their skills in the field of IT. One of the best ways to do this is to enrol in an IT training course.

There's just one problem - there are a lot of courses out there. So, how do you know which one to choose? Keep reading to find out 5 qualities that you should look for in an IT training course.

1. Taught By Experts With Relevant Experience

Success in the IT industry requires expert knowledge. By investing time and money into a training course, you expect to receive quality training. So it's important to do some research into who is running the course.

At the end of the day, you're taking a course to learn new skills and broaden your knowledge. Therefore, whoever is teaching the course should already possess both the knowledge and skills you're seeking. At the least, they should have relevant certifications in the technologies they're teaching.

There is an old saying that says a student is only as good as his teacher. To gain maximum benefit from a course, you have to have a top-notch, qualified instructor with adequate industry knowledge.

2. Future Focused

The IT industry is one of the fastest-growing industries today. New technologies are being released at a rapid pace and new, better systems are constantly in development.

That's why it's so important to make sure what you're learning is up to date. Acquiring new skills is great, but if the skills you learn aren't relevant anymore, the course was a waste of time and money.

Don't consider taking a course that hasn't updated its content for a couple of years. Your course provider should be focused on industry changes in order to deliver the most relevant training.

Course providers should keep track of both industry changes and student needs. Course instructors should constantly be improving their skills as well in order to keep pace with industry developments. A good course provider will also train their instructors to keep their skills up to date.

3. Course Content Should Be In-Depth

A good IT training course should be full of content. The content of the course should be in-depth but not overwhelming.

New material should be introduced to students slowly. This makes the learning process easier and more enjoyable. A course that throws everything at you on day one is going to make you feel stressed and confused.

Likewise, a course with too much complex, technical material is going to leave you feeling bored. A good IT course should simplify difficult, technical material to make it more understandable for the learner.

Whether the course is about learning to code or enterprise architecture, the material should be presented in a manner that is easy to digest.

When you're looking for a suitable IT training course, check to see if you can preview the content. Analyse the curriculum to see what is being taught and read over some of the material to get an idea of how in-depth it is.

4. Well Organised

It doesn't matter how good the instructor is or how in-depth the content is, if the course is laid out poorly, it's difficult to stay engaged.

You don't want to start a course that's going to confuse you or put you to sleep halfway through. Look for a training course that is well organised and intelligently structured.

Course material should be well written and free of spelling and grammar mistakes. The material should be laid out in a logical fashion. Some of the best IT training courses break up content into multiple modules. This is a good way of breaking the content up into manageable chunks.

Course modules should follow a logical and practical sequence, with each new module building on what was taught in the previous one. The course should have clear learning objectives that are measured through quizzes or appropriate assignments.

5. Interactive Elements

Learning the theory is important but so is putting it into practice.

Engaging and interacting with the material you're taught is an important step in the learning process. That's why you should look for a course that includes interactive elements designed to challenge you and make you think.

Learning the theory without any practice is like trying to learn a language without speaking it. A good IT training course will provide adequate opportunities for you to apply your knowledge.

Applying what you learn is also an important step in identifying how well you understand the material. Otherwise, you may think you understand a certain concept when really you don't.

Practical activities and assignments offer you the chance to consolidate your knowledge. It's also important that course instructors give you feedback after you complete an assignment. You should look for a course that contains lots of practical exercises.

Choose a Quality IT Training Course

When it comes to IT training courses, there are many to choose from. It's important to pick a course that is taught by industry experts who possess the relevant skills. Courses should be well organised and present new information in manageable chunks.

Due to the rapid development of the IT industry, training courses should be future-focused and incorporate the latest industry knowledge and best practices.

Why is DPBoK™ training course important?

The Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge™ Standard also called the DPBoK™ Standard is a standard of The Open Group. Keep reading to know everything about the DPBoK™ Standard, and what this standard can bring to your business.

Keyword(s): DPBoK™, The Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge

A few industry organizations provide a standard set of curricula for large scale organizations. However, most of those plans for organizations of any important scale remain extremely complex to implement. And, IT training programs of any stripe require experiential studying and implementation practice to be efficient, not just a curriculum. Whereas, DPBoK™ Standard makes a big difference.

What is The Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge™ Standard

DPBoK™ is a standard of The Open Group. Through user and industry participation, The Open Group produces standards that reflect practical market requirements and establishes certification programs that present a guaranty of conformance for products, services, and enterprise practices to industry standards or greatest practices. DPBoK™ Foundation (Level 1) course is accredited by The Open Group.

The purpose of The Digital Practitioner Body of Knowledge™ certification is to provide validation that the individual has gained knowledge of the foundational set of concepts for the Digital Practitioner. Individuals and organizations of any size who wish to create and manage product offerings with an increasing digital component, or lead their organization through Digital Transformation and Agile Transformation.

The structure of the Body of Knowledge is based on the Emergence Model. It divides the Body of Knowledge into four different stages. And, these stages are called Contexts, which correspond to the stages of evolution of digital practice. They are summarized as follows:

  • Context I: Individual or Founder. Foundational drivers of, and technical capabilities for, delivering digital value
  • Context II: Team. The critical product management, collaboration, and operational skills necessary for producing digital value
  • Context III: Team of Teams. Key capabilities for partitioning investments and ensuring coherence, alignment, and joint execution across multiple teams
  • Context IV:Enduring Enterprise. Steering, managing risk, and assuring performance at scale and over increasing time horizons and increasingly complex ecosystems

DPBoK™ Standard is a body of information to help individuals and companies who want to create and manage product offerings with an growing digital component or lead their group through Digital Transformation.

It offers guidance for the Digital Practitioner, whether primarily based in a traditional "IT" organization, sales, manufacturing unit, customer support, or embedded in a cutting-edge integrated product team. Through DPBOK, organizations of any size can mature their digital practices without having to try to abstract practices from competing (mostly lifecycle-based) BOKs which, due to their organizing principle, do not generally provide such scale-specific guidance for all practices.

This also greatly simplifies approaches to Digital maturity for organizations for all sizes, keeping in mind that the pursuit of Digital maturity does lead to the very un-lean "pursuing a framework for a framework's sake" as previous generation maturity pursuits did when based on the big IT BOKs of the past.

Reasons to Attend DPBoK™ Course

Your Ultimate Guide to Enterprise Architecture Tools

Ultimate Guide to Enterprise Architecture Tools

Your Ultimate Guide to Enterprise Architecture Tools

If you're looking for more efficiency in your business, it's vital that you have the right tools. This article highlights useful enterprise architecture tools.

Keyword(s): enterprise architecture tools

Is your organization stuck in a maze of siloed departments and inefficient processes? Are you juggling several teams that aren't communicating well and don't understand what the other is doing?

If you're fighting against inefficiency and bloated budgets, then you need to streamline with enterprise architecture. Stop using antiquated processes and tools, and instead start investing in the right tools for the job.

Don't worry if you're confused and overwhelmed by the array of enterprise architecture tools available. We'll break down what you should look for so that you choose the right tool for your team.

So, if you're looking to improve efficiency and productivity by providing the right tools for your team, then you're in the right spot.

A Brief Background

Organizations today are getting larger and more complex. If your operations department is getting too complex than is sustainable you need enterprise architecture.

Enterprise architecture describes any team or group of people working together to complete a project. It can be a multidisciplinary team within your organization or it can be a small group of people working within your company to work together to complete a project.

This system, or framework, allows large companies to operate in an agile manner similar to smaller companies. Your business or management department doesn't have to be separate or competing with your IT department. With enterprise architecture, both can work seamlessly together to achieve better results for your company.

Regardless of the project your team is undertaking, having an enterprise architecture system will improve your efficiency and workflow. Whether you're building a tree fort for your kids in the backyard or managing a global team of software developers, having the right tools in your toolbox can improve your efficiency, decrease your costs, and reduce your risks. And, at the end of the day, those three goals are the essential three for any CIO in today's business environment.

The ability to be agile in a larger organization can be difficult. But, like with any job you tackle, it is easier when you have the right tools.

Improve Efficiency With the Right Enterprise Architecture Tools

Designing or finding the right software for the job is not a small task. With inappropriate or inefficient software, your team won't be able to do the job quickly and efficiently. This will drive up costs and increase your development time. Investing in the right tools can be expensive, but in the long run, they will help you to reduce costs by improving efficiency and productivity.

When you're planning your project, having the right tools will help make your experience better and more efficient. To find the right tools for your project you will need to do some research. While there are several tools available on the market today, you will want to do your homework to find the right one for you and your team.

Here are seven questions we suggest you ask each time you research different tools for your EA toolbox:

  1. Do you need an out of the box model or do you want the freedom to customize your models and reports?
  2. Does it provide a holistic overview of your project?
  3. Do you have time to learn a robust program or is a light-weight, easy-to-use tool better for your team right now?
  4. Which specific features do you need and which have the highest priorities?
  5. Do you need a scheduler built-in?
  6. Who will be using the tool and does everyone need full access, or do they just need to be able to see it?
  7. Do you need any additional services or education available?

When you ask these questions ahead of time, you will find the right tool for the job for your enterprise architecture venture. Your team will appreciate the work you've done to find the right software for them.

Get the Whole Team on Board

Any tool you ultimately purchase is only as good as the full understanding of your team. It doesn't matter if you purchase the best tool on the market with the most features if it overwhelms your team. If nobody is able to get any work done because they don't understand the tool you've purchased, you've wasted your money and time.

Instead, invest in the tools your purchase by investing in the education of your team. This includes everyone from high-level executives to the day to day developers and designers.

Some software companies offer education and training to ensure that your team is on the same page when it comes to understanding enterprise architecture as well as understanding their tools or software.

Alternatively, there are experts in the field of architecture who can come into your organization to train and educate your team. These seminars may take your team away from their daily work for a few days. But in the end, they will enable your team to get more work done in less time because they can fully utilize the tools you've purchased.

Here at Architecture Center, we have a team of consultants and trainers who can provide this training for your team. Improve the efficiency and productivity of your team by empowering them with this invaluable training.

The best way to get your next project done on time and on a budget is to make sure that everyone on your team is on board. And the best way to do that is to prioritize education and training.

Update Your Toolbox Today

Your team deserves the best tools to help them get the job done. And you can provide them with these tools, as well as the education they need, to get the job done right.

Don't allow inefficient tools or inadequate training to keep your team's productivity or efficiency down. Provide them with the best enterprise architecture tools they need to stay on task and under budget.
